Instructions for part 2 For part 2 of this project please review the tables attached in the project folder This is just a selection of a handful of findings for 2017 (tables 133, 134, 135, 136, 137, 153, 155, 210, 212) and a longitudinal trend table for years 1991 through 2017 (these and many other tables are available in the final report for 2017. For this project, please direct your attention to the tables mentioned above. Please identify three trends in numbers overtime or a noticeable pattern across different categories that grab you as intriguing, surprising, confirm your knowledge or challenge your expectations. For example, stating that in 1991, 51 percent of high school participants reported having had sex is NOT sufficient. But if you observe that from 1991 to 2013 the number of high school students who report having had sex drops from 51 percent to 46 percent — you have identified a trend! Similarly, it is NOT enough to simply document that 2.9 percent of females in 9th grade report having had sex before the age of 13. But if you state that 2.9 percent of 9th grade females report having had sex before the age of 13 compared to 8.7 percent of 9th grade males — you have found a noticeable pattern across categories. After you have identified the three trends, please write them up, making sure that for each of them you 1. identify the table your data is coming from, 2. record exactly the numbers and the categories that factor into your findings, and 3. in your words, explain what you observed. For each of your trends, your write up need not be longer than a page.
