ASSIGNMENT:

After considering the arguments in favor of and against the basic idea that a stratified social system is good for all members of society, please reflect on what you believe Howard Zinn would say to Davis and Moore.  What would his argument be and what example would he use to support his argument?  (Think about the life narrative that Zinn provides in the documentary and draw from his stories)

  • Grammar is important – please edit and utilize the grammar guides and tips I provide here on Blackboard.
  • your reader has watched the film, so just begin with your answer as if you were asked the question in a conversation.  That’s what academic writing is: a conversation.
  • The word count requirement/limit is 250. Please include a word count (word count = XXX) at the end of your essay.
  • Do not include your name when you submit.
  • I’m looking for your own original thinking and your ability to tie the ideas of inequality and social justice together with some of the classic arguments of sociology

Howard Zinn: You can’t be neutral on a moving train (its on netflix – this is a movie documentary)

I attached the Davis & moore article to this assignment.
