Create an Intervention Strategy for the Family Assessment

Family interventions involve the identification and selection of appropriate community and support programs and services to improve the functional level of older people and their families. For this component of your project, you will create an intervention strategy that addresses the needs of your hypothetical family as indicated by your family assessment.

  • Consider appropriate community and support services to address the needs of your family. Services might include:
    • Nutrition and meal planning.
    • Budgeting.
    • Independent living skills.
    • Respite care.
    • Transportation.
    • Council on Aging.
    • Home Health Services.
    • Meals on Wheels.
  • Consider using advocacy, integration, collaboration, and consultation strategies to support family needs.
  • Are these services available in your community? If not, what alternatives would you suggest?
  • Provide the rationale for the interventions you choose. What in your assessment indicated that these might be appropriate interventions?
  • Support your decisions with references to the professional literature. There are many evidenced-based intervention strategies in the literature and peer-reviewed journals. Some useful databases and organizational resources include:
    •  Library databases.
    • Family psychoeducation toolkits.
    • The caregiver well-being toolkit.
    • The National Family Caregiver Support Program.
    • Generations United.
    • GenoWare.
  • Your paper should adhere to APA writing guidelines and demonstrate effective academic writing skills.
